HI..
I was thinking of making some leds lights for my ROV and was wondering which colour is the best, Blue or White..
I was going to use a 40mm end cap, drill 8 5mm holes and wire them in and use a 68ohm resistor as power is 12V
Thank in advance
Stuart
Which colour LEDS
Re: Which colour LEDS
I heard blue light was better for underwater but can't confirm this or not. I did try some blue Led's and well they worked great out of the water in the dark, in the water they didn't do much, but I suspect that they just weren't powerful enough.
Look on the bottom of this page and you can see what I tried... Again they weren't super bright to begin with... I still have to get some of the high output type.

Re: Which colour LEDS
It looks like this topic has been quite for a while...
Thought I would throw a tip or two out there. I have been researching my lighting options in the last few days and have made a few conclusions / goals.
-Most (mid range) Scuba Diving torches produce 200~300 lumen per LED and often cluster 3 LEDs together.
-Most underwater filming gear use a wide beam angle > 100 deg.
-Most underwater LEDs have a very high temperature colour, 5700k or more!
I will keep you all posted on my developments!
