Controlling Depth
Re: Controlling Depth
Or, if the parts inside the ABS box allow it without problems, fill it with wax or oil (or something else that cannot being pressured).
Re: Controlling Depth
I with Jim on that, I am using ones from Critical velocity 15 amp bidirectional. commercial rov vertical thrusters are always movingRover wrote:I am also using a PWM variable speed control to adjust the vertical thruster for precise hovering ability.

Re: Controlling Depth
which speed controler is easy to get im using the bilge pump moters thanks
Re: Controlling Depth
On a previous ROV our horziontal thrusters were controlled by relays, but I wanted a way to control my vertical position, so I add a bi-directional speed control I bought from Carls's Electronics...... http://www.electronickits.com/kit/compl ... r/k166.htm
This little kit uses a pot to control speed. I remotely connected the three wires for the pot in my drivers box on the surface. This gave me precise up and down thruster speed.
If you have a PWM signal at the ROV, then a brushed ESC (electronic speed control) is the way to go.

Re: Controlling Depth
I like that idea.
