They look rather handy, I prefer the second RCA spy camera partly because I don't think you shall get very far over a USB cable.
I am looking into using a bird box camera, similar to the second one:

This is a complete kit with the RCA cable in a 30m length, but you can also get a single camera unit for about £5 ($8) which I have used in the past and found to be very good.

We are using a small board camera connected to a pair of video balun's. I like this camera as you have a lot of focus ability with it, and you can also buy a telephoto lens for it.
I found mine at Menards, but bought it online from the vendor (Swann) because they had a combo package that included the camera and two different lenses... http://www.swann.com/s/products/view/?product=328
They used to have an online store but it doesn't appear that they do anymore.
