Hi,
Can someone clarify for me the preferred way to power the rov? I don't know what the deciding factor would be between sending down 12VDC to the rov or is it better to have an on-board battery supply, so the power is derived locally for the thrusters, etc? I'll be housing the relays, etc., in a PVC pipe on-board.
My initial thoughts we're for a tether comprising, 1 x shotgun coax with 0.75mm power and a cat 5 to do the low amp switching down to the relays.
Any thoughts would be great.

Re: power down to ROV
I prefer onboard batteries (lithium ion) They are physically small, light weight and pack a lot of punch. This keeps my tether with small guage conductors. But this is just what I like. Others opinions will vary I am sure.
