I second that... I always at least try to make the tether disconnect from the control box, this way I can at least wrap the tether around the Rov for easier transport. Mine are small enough to fit in one of those Tupperware storage tubs.

I used these waterproof molex connectors for my tether / control box connection:

they are pretty inexpensive, but you can usually get free samples from molex by filling out a sample request online.

I know i'm a bit late, but I was just thinking of this problem today. since my rov wilol be too long to easily transport, I will be using my truck to hail all equipment, and one I can free up some extra cash (low budget is my middle name) to get the boat I've been talking to someone about, a 30' w/ small abin to be used as a staging vessel, I will be keeping a better control "desk" with a dark box for seeing the screen, and a metal and PVC "cradle" or gantry on the stern for launh/retrieval. of course, that will be in a few years, at best.

The Best would be to make a aluminium box that has precise measurements = exact fit.. I face an extra problem as my umbilical is a 150m Fiber Optic and doesn't excuse any OOPS while transportation..

B t w that hood is for sure the most futuristic looking video transmission unit I ever have seen... but somehow I think about the people standing around me when I try my ROV at Pattaya beach. I guess some will call the friendly lads with the white dresses on and they will drive me with the Darth Vader outfit direct into the Station 11 of Pattaya Hospital and in the report will be written: Another Tourist who didn't make it..
But anyway, this is sure an unique Idea
