Hi all
Im yet another rov homebuilder.
Havent got any seaworthy rov yet.
2 years ago I started working in an ROV company and fell into the occupational hazard of trying to build one at home
My plan/dream is to build a small ROV capable of depths greater than 100m.
Im thinking of a PC to Arduino control setup with 4 trusters (2 aft) and a bouyancy to make the rov neutral in water.
And control and camera can made of aluminum. and oilfilled trusterhousings pressurised with about 0,5bar to keep water out.
Currently im dwelling on the trusters, if the smartest thing is to use axel from the engine to the prop or if a magnetic conection is strong enough to keep the propellor moving with high torque and lots of direction alterations.
I plan to use IP network on powercables to transfer data. and a IP camera if the network can deliver enough bandwith.
In the end my dream is to make a gyro based ROV that can move freely in all axes
