Need help understanding wiring

Post by foam »

So if I have three thrusters and I use speaker wire would I need three pairs one for positive and negative on three thrusters? Then what about the lights and the camera? Would i use cat 5 for those?

Does anyone have a video or picture for noobs on how to wire the controller up?

Are there hd cameras I could get for my rov? Would it just be better to get a standard def camera for viewing and use my gopro for recording?

Is sparkfun a good place to buy this stuff?

You could do that but it would make for a heavy and stiff tether plus you would need other wires for the lights, camera, ect.

I can up with this basic system seen in this post (viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1592) It allows you to use one pair of wires for power and then a cat5 cable for control. You still need a camera cable but overall it makes for a thinner tether. The down side is all of your things are sharing the same power so the voltage drop will be greater the more things you turn on at the same time. A lot is going to depend on your tether length though.
