I have finally got something that I think I could do (which requires no soldering with broken irons and finding parts in our rubbish DIY store where I live).
My idea is to have a laptop computer to monitor progress that shall be running to a "Fish" containing recording equipment such as GPS, Temperature and possibly PH.
The entire "Fish" shall basicly be a an enclosed PVC pipe with small antennas and probes sticking out of it.
What do you guys think?
Not the most advanced as what most of you geniuses seem to be building but considering all my other attempts have failed (admittedly due to a lack of parts suppliers) but I think it shall be useful in recording data and practising for my dream career, Oceanographer.

Sounds pretty good. Will you be able to get a gps signal underwater?

Good point, might just keep that one in the kayak.
