Hello from Everett, WA

Post by rehoward »

Hi all,

I have posted to this forum a couple of times recently but am fairly new to the forum. I am a mechanical designer (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD) by trade and probably an old fart at age 63 since most of you folks seem to be college age. I have a BA in Applied Design and a hobby home machine shop that I am always expanding.

So far I have been doing research on building my own ROV and I have discovered there is a lot to learn. I have built industrial machinery controlled by PLC's but this Arduino stuff is new to me as are brushless DC motors, exotic battery packs, and digital motor controllers. I also am a newbie to security type cameras and how they can be applied to an ROV. These will be my key challenges as designing for machining and fabrication is what I have done for years.

I have a question about ROV books. Is there one good book out there that everyone should have regarding ROV's?

Thanks in advance for all the help I will receive here.
