Condensation?

Post by solarcamper »

Anyone else deal with condensation on the plastic in front of your camera? With my old rig I had the camera in the main body and therefore any work on the electronics meant a fresh dose of warm moist air which contrasted from the bottom of our lake where it is very cool. I am now separating the camera into its own housing but I am thinking maybe I need to seal some rice or silica gel in there with it for the air going in now. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

Hey, have had the same problem. You can use silica gel but it wont work fine if you open the housing just before diving. The silica gel need some time to dry the air. Its important to cool down the air/the housing so the moisture can be absorbed by the silica. If you do it 2-3 times it can be work fine. But as i said...only if the housing is still closed (and small).

You can also try to use defogging spray like anti-moisture for the glass/plasic lens.

If you use the gopro-housing try the anti-fog pads.
