Build vs Buy? [LMB]

Post by Goodluckfox »

Ok, so I have a full machine shop at my disposal. Hooray!

I've got a frame that's currently a cube 2 feet on a side. Oversized I'm sure, but this is Ver 0.1a and I'm just learning.

Are commercial off the shelf thrusters crazy more expensive than what you can build out of bilge pumps? If it's only three to five times as expensive to buy and saves time, I'm cool with just spending the money. If it's ridiculously expensive then I suppose I'll just have to learn.

Take a look at the Bluerobotics T-100, it's an awesome thruster for the price.

By the time you buy a bilge pump, prop, adapters, ect. your probably at half the price of the T-100 and a bilge pump won't even come close to the performance that these put out.

Don't get me wrong if your just looking for a basic Rov a bilge pump thruster will work but if your at all serious about building a good Rov go with a few T-100 especially if they are within your budget.
