Well, threw the unit in the pool yesterday for a quick test-run. It works! Well, sorta. The polarity on the drive wheels was wrong so it went backwards but the suction motor was turning in the right direction.

Pulled the whole thing out, let it dry, dis-assembled (getting good at that for some reason  ) and changed polarity on the drive motors. Threw it back in the pool this afternoon and it now goes in the correct direction. One small problem, however. It goes too fast! The motor that turns the prop in the suction chamber REALLY SPINS and provides enough thrust to almost overpower the drive-wheels. As it climbs up the pool wall, the suction chamber will come out of the water and fill with air. Then the @#$@# thing will zoom along the surface. Funny as can be to watch.

Anyway, I'm thinking of getting 3 of these, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q9Y61PY/ref ... PPGEHD4XAA one for the suction motor and each drive-wheel. Mounting them in the top-side powersupply, adding three lengths of speaker cable (replacing the old tether) and driving it manually. Can anyone see any problem with that ESC or with the plan in general?
