360 Camera Wiring

Post by Puds22 »

Okay so I am planning on making a camera housing that I can drop over the side of my boat and get live video back. I am going to use a servo to make this camera pan around at the touch of a button. However I think I have ran into a problem with my design. This is that I believe the wires from the camera to the tether will twist due to the rotation. Any ideas how I can fix this?

I have a similar camera that I bought on ebay,

In the case of this camera it rotates one way then stops and reverses the other way, so no problem.

If you want continuous rotation you will need a slip ring inside your housing, this will add bulk but achieve what you want, they are relatively cheap on ebay, I would buy two so that you can have one on your reel at the surface too. If it is easy to deploy you will use it more often.
