Help with two questions please

Post by Domes »

The first is in regards to throttling motors. To do this is it simply as easy as changing the PWM signal for example remapping the PWM signal so that 50% would be represented by 0-128, 25% power would be 0-64 etc right?

The other question is can someone please explain this dyno test image to me? What does the orange line represent. If I throttle these motors to 4A max then these will only give me 20 watts output? That does not seem right to me.

I am looking for a powerful but low current brush less motor.

Hi,

Since you are probaly using an ESC with a reverse 90 would be neutral and 50% power in forward would be 90+45=135. Reverse normaly has a lower output rate so that depends on the ESC but 90-45 is probaly not 50% reverse power. Regarding the image, I have no real clue ;)

Thank you.

I think I have got mixed up somewhere(first ROV). You are talking angles right? I am talking an 8 bit PWM signal 0-256. If it was remapped -128 to +128 would that not give me 50% reverse and 50% forward which would then be multiplied by the ESC speed % setting for example a 50% forward would be 128 PWM signal and then this would then be multiplied by say for example a 50% ESC setting to give me 25% throttle? I thought the angles was auto handled by the ESC or have I got this wrong and how do I go adjusting the angles?
