The Sea Sleuth

Post by ThunderKeep »

Hello All, I have been working on my first ROV project and I think my wife is tired of hearing about it so I think I better outlet my zest for this project here,

I am completely new to arduino but I like a challenge so I started with this aspect. I wanted to build everything mostly from scratch, control system, sensor array, ROV hull etc.

I decided that the Fathom S tether interface board set was my preference for managing serial comms between ROV and top side control, it handles an amazing distance of over 1000M with live camera input.

For a camera I choose to use a low light analog PAL Camera from BlueRobotics with a top side screen I plan to mount in a pelican box with my controls. I used my 3D printer and some 9G Micro Servos
to build a low profile camera mount that I can use 2 potentiometer to control pan and tilt on,

Tonight I finished coding my sensor array, I have 2 battery voltage sensor monitors, an internal ROV temp sender, an external water temp probe and a water level sensor for a leak detection sensor (which I need to add to LCD display yet)

My next step is to start programming my ESC for my thruster motors and putting the propulsion system onto a test "board" like I have my communications and sensors

Nice. Would you mind sharing the STL for your camera mount? I'd want to use something like that on my next ROV.

Sure, here a link to a shared folder, I printed them at 25% infill at 2mm resolution and you will need supports.

Here are some more pictures of it,
