Senior Project ROV

Post by Astronaut »

I have a few weeks to work on this project and I'm not even sure I can get it done in time, but I'm on my way.

The original goal was to make this able to dive 100m but due to the budget and time restrictions, this is kinda out of the question now. I decided to 3D print parts of the robot to make it easier to fabricate exactly what I want. Most of it will be solid infill because of pressure.

Here is the first CAD mockup.

I decided to 3D print the float. I was going to fill this with homemade syntactic foam, but I might just fill it with a hard spray foam to save time if we have it on hand. I am just on a serious time crunch and haven't even ordered most of the parts. I'll have to send the list in by later today. If anyone has any better ideas about this let me know. I want to get most of this built next week.

Here is the float printed. I also made a mockup of the frame, but revised it later.

Hope this robot turns out! It's my first one and I'm super excited to do this! Send me all the advice you have!
