I had some problems with getting the webcam working on a decent framerate with the PI. And that was mainly because the USB port of the PI was not able to source enough power without an powered hub in between. On land not an big issue but underwater without a wall socket nearby a bigger issue. For simplicity I ordered an ethernet card for the arduino and am I going to use a webcam which has a build in UTP port.
The webcam I have in mind is using 5V and 1A to getter with the arduino I should be able to run this of a powerbank or of the lipo i orderd with the DC-DC regulator.

Well the order of my electronics went from China to the Netherlands and was shipped back to China. So over a month lost now since the most important stuff was in that package, the motors and controllers. The ethernet shield for my Arduino arrived and works. Now to starting on experiments to get it working with my control on the surface.

ESC and props arrived with some delay in customs costing an other 22 euro. Did a small test with the program card and a motor plus ESC which looked good.

Just ordered today some more electro parts to get the build a bit futher. Got the plastics last week from a fish pond supplier for cheap

Finaly making something again. The connections to the outside world through the hull. I bougth some car cable connectors which should be able to handle the amps of the motors.
This is located at the back of the ROV.

Halfway now with the backside of the ROV. Still have to pour some resin in it to really seal it off. Did a quick waterproof test and it lived up to expectations, leaks everywhere
Want to pour some on the inside to coat all the connectors and then add rubber seals to prevent water from entering.
The only connector missing is now a UTP cable connector. I have found one that is ip67 so nowhere waterproof enough. But the concept is easy lots of rubber on the outside allready and resin on the inside should fix it.

Since I got my powerline connectors working I do not need the UTP connector anymore. At least that is what I hope. See the topic in the tether section about this. Just for the record the picture of the working connection in the test setup.

Oke now the powerline connecting is work, it gets rather hot I just found out when I mounted back in a part of the housing to see the lights together with the symbols.
Have to think about that for a bit. Back to the bulk connectors, building a seal with some inner tube to prevent the worst leaks now.

Small side project, our parrot (54 years old) has the habbit of dropping of its stand. It is a handicapt bird, missing some bits of his feet and unable to fly. So during our long weekend away on my new motor bike I used some of the internals of the ROV to send me an email each hour with a small picture to see if the bird was still in the right place and not on the floor.
