Cheap RC control tested OK :)

Post by marius407 »

Have tested this control system and it works fine.
Use 3.5 audio jack on the back on the tx and connect the other end to ppm input on converter board.
Connect esc`s to outputs on converter board.

Happy days :) :D

Do you know how long a tether you can have this setup?

I have a similar radio (turnigy 9x) and wonder whether the control would be better than the current PS2 control that I'm using.

Hi Marius,

The RC controller has 6 channels. I wonder if that is enough to control 3 thrusters with reverse AND pan/tilt servos for a camera?

Hi Kale,

I think it should be, I only use 5 pins on my arduino for those functions, which are essentially the same as a channel each.

But not having tried it...............

I am controlling 4 thrusters.
2 vertical thrusters (running on the same ESC)
2 horizontal (these are connected to a Sabertooth 2 x 25 Dual 25A Motor Driver) ( http://www.robotmarketplace.com/product ... 25-RC.html )
I use ch5 to turn on/off lights
I use ch6 to tilt camera(no pan)

But if you want an p/t i would choose a different tx. Because you will not be able to control the p/t with the to other channels.
On the controller you have ch5 and ch6, ch5 is only on/off and ch6 is adjustable both ways.

Hope this helps

Does the Turnigy 9x have the same feature as the HobbyKing HK6S? In other words, can you connect it to the rmilec receiver via cable?

It has a trainer port on the back if that's what you're asking, it is different in that it has 9 (really only 8) channels.

Ok, thanks. I'm testing out different solutions to control my ROV. I have tried to use the PS2>UNO3>serial>UNO3>ESC>Brushless system with no success. I can't get the motors go in reverse. Does the RC-control>rmilec>ESC>Brushless system work right "out of the box"?

Hi Kale I really don't know as I haven't tried it.

What code are you using to control the motors via the PS2 and what esc's are using? Have you programmed the esc's?

I don't think anything works out of the box around here?

But there is help when you really need it, there aren't many of us ROV enthusiasts.
