not to necessarily revive this thread, but I was considering a spear gun for my rov to take out lion fish.
They are invasive in Florida so laws regarding the collection process are very lax.
Plus a local dive shop gives out kill stickers if you have a pic of a speared one.
It would be fun to put it on my rov.

I have also wondered if this can be done
I think it could be if u made a pvc "arm" with a clip on the end to hold it secure
and a gear system to pull the trigger. to reload you would have to resurface.
the main thing is that it could damage the rov UNLESS you tie the spear rope straight onto a float or sumthing
so when u shoot the spear is not at all attatched to the rov

Even in non shark-infested waters, a spear-gun might be a fun idea. Chasing down fish in their own environment seems like it would be more sporting and certainly more fun than just throwing out booby-trapped food and sitting on the shore. <><
