Re: Experimental ROV Design using Blue Robotics Components

Looking good! Though there are 2 small niggles with this configuration, First, your Yaw/Heading, won't allow you to pivot on the spot, you'll travel slightly forward each time you try to pivot on the spot. Second, Your lateral thrust probably won't induce much yaw, however (and possibly more annoyin...

Re: Feedback for this ROV design ?

Also this rov will work very well in the forward direction only.

Consider vectored thrust or add a lateral thruster.

There is a wealth of info in this thread,

Calculators, i don't think exist, due to so many variables.

Re: The affect of RPM of a DC motor on the performance on a

The big issue with brushless is that for our intended use they can be TOO fast  Any "Kv" rating of less than 1000 should be ok, though the lower the better, the lower the KV rating = torque and speed. I'm using these http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=1...

Re: The affect of RPM of a DC motor on the performance on a

Thats a very low RPM!! i think you'd struggle to find props large enough to make your ROV be of any use! what size of props were you planning on using?

Re: Rov Reboot (3d Printed)

Well after much deliberation, and because i am both cheap, and a tinkerer, i went with the CTC Dual (Makerbot clone). £280 incl free delivery and 1kg of PLA to get you started It doesn't have the hot end ducting/blower, but i guess i'll just print one out and add a fan   the first thing i ...

Re: ROV Control Unit Design

The biggest thing that would put me off would be price, £780 incl Vat?? that's more than my whole build budget on one single peice of kit. I've looked at a 3d mouse for 3d CAD, but alas the cost outweighed the benefit. My current controller cost £30, and has lots of functionality, My next system wil...

Re: ROV Control Unit Design

Having spent a fair bit of time on Forum's VMAX simulator, and having a miniscule amount of "real" flying time in a test tank, I don't think i'd enjoy the experience of controlling a multi million pound system with a mouse. As for the members on here, most of us don't have the luxury of a ...
