Re: 3D printing flange for the end of PVC pipe
So the issue isn't the epoxy/PVC interface, but the PLA itself? Yes even printing at 100% it's not going to be as solid as you think it's just the nature of 3D printing. Materials like Ian mentioned such as PETG may have claims of being waterproof but I believe its only refereed to as waterproof wh...

Re: 3D printing flange for the end of PVC pipe
I've tried this SEE HERE and it didn't work. I also make a lot of 3D Printed fishing lures and I full coat them with epoxy and I've still had pin holes that can fill the lure up even at 8-10 feet of depth... when they get back to the surface they are like a squirt gun. You can try it but I highly re...

Re: Need help understanding wiring
You could do that but it would make for a heavy and stiff tether plus you would need other wires for the lights, camera, ect. I can up with this basic system seen in this post (http://www.homebuiltrovs.com/rovforum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1592) It allows you to use one pair of wires for power and t...

Re: CAD version
There are a ton of different CAD programs out there these days such as Solidworks, Onshape, Fusion360, Bender, ect. If your just getting started in CAD I would suggest Fusion360. It's free and there are a lot of tutorials on Youtube that will help you get started.

Re: Rov Reboot (3D Printed Rov)
Very cool I just might have to give that a try... I'll bet there are some 3D printed ones out there already too.

Re: Rov Reboot (3D Printed Rov)
Thanks... The end caps on the camera tube were machined from a solid rod of PVC. This was the stuff I used https://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/125/3738 (PVC Rods 2") Any hard plastic should work though. I tested the 3D printed parts out and yeah unfortunately even at 100% infill they will not work...

Re: Lucas' SeaFox
The issue was the thruster cables had water ingestion going through the sheathing and into the WTC. This was an issue I expected at greater depths, but not < 20 ft! I did come up with a potting solution for the cables that did fix this, more info on that in an upcoming post. Yeah that does happen.....
