Re: Blue Robotics/OpenROV 2.8 Hybrid ROV

I was asked about the build cost of this hybrid ROV over on the OpenROV Forum. Here is what I responded with: Unfortunately, this is not an inexpensive ROV to build due to the fact that just the three BR short cable Thrusters alone are $315 plus shipping which is quite a bit more than the three Open...

Re: Blue Robotics/OpenROV 2.8 Hybrid ROV

I completed the installation of the WTC Cradle into the front of the ROV Chassis and relocated one of the transverse rods that was interfering with the bottom of the Cradle. Re: Blue Robotics/OpenROV 2.8 Hybrid ROV

I completed the OpenROV WTC Cradle today. The WTC locks into a permanent transverse bar on the bottom of the Cradle. The top transverse bar, being removable, is held in place with a stainless steel 4-40 machine screw at each end so that the WTC can be installed and removed from the Cradle with a min...

Blue Robotics/OpenROV 2.8 Hybrid ROV

I have been working on a three thruster ROV configuration that combines a BR BlueROV1 chassis1 (no thrusters or WTC) and three T100 Thrusters4 with an OpenROV 2.8 Developer's Controller Kit1, WTC, End Caps and IMU/Compass/Depth Module. The only limitation of this hybrid ROV is the fact that the Open...

Re: An OpenROV Horror Story

Hi All, Now that I will have the OpenROV 2.8 Developer's Controller Kit in my possession, I plan to document the integration of this controller into a three thruster ROV that will use Blue Robotics (BR) Thrusters, WTCs, and assorted support components. I will have to be careful using the BR Thruster...

Re: An OpenROV Horror Story

Hi All, Some good news finally concerning my OpenROV order :) Since my last email to Nima at OpenROV on Friday, July 1, I have received an email from OpenROV at 4:25 am EST today with the same Tracking Number as before, but this time the USPS Tracking System showed the status of my parcel and not th...

An OpenROV Horror Story

Hi All, I usually like to roll my own ROV using Blue Robotics Thrusters, WTCs, and cable penetrators and use either a BBBMINI or a Pixhawk as a navigation controller and QGroundControl as my GCS. However I have been following the OpenROV product line and decided to consider the purchase of an OpenRO...

New Blue Robotics Tether Ethernet Interface

Hi All, Blue Robotics has made a Tether Ethernet Interface (https://www.bluerobotics.com/store/electronics/fathom-x-r1/) available for those of you who would like to run your ROV on just a single twisted pair instead of a Cat 5/6 cable. Quantities are apparently limited at the moment so it is first ...

Re: An affordable tether.

Hi All,

I have 75 meters of the BR Tether and you can see it being potted into a BR cable penetrator here: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=1707&start=90
