Re: turtles rov

Mine is thicker, was 10mm drilled out to 4mm except the ends and OD is 100 mm. You have more air in but then you have a hole through it as well. Guess it will depend on amount of electronics inside. If you did your math stick to you plan, as said it would be sad to ruin the looks of your machine now...

Re: turtles rov

ok. I was thinking it would actually sink and need some flotation. it would be a shame to add ugly floats and/or weights to your beautiful machine! oh see what you mean lol. even when it was floating half way i had to push it quite hard to get it to go under.i will prob need about 2-3kg of weight o...

Re: Direct Servo Control (DSC) with RC Tx/Rx

Tx Der, Luckily I have the same model as fiveover, 6102 which allows mixing. Will play a bit with it I guess. I still don’t get how you tell one esc to go forward and one reverse with one stick movement when you want to turn. I am just trying to find alternative control methods while the main is wai...

Re: Direct Servo Control (DSC) with RC Tx/Rx

I like this idea, seems simple, have an old JR (never used it though) and would like to try your setup. Few questions though. How do you program / sync the esc with the TX? I thought each channel is designated for one function i.e. Throttle on one, servo on other etc. How do I setup so throttle stic...

Re: Camera Recomendations

Yes, only standard def. on live feed but it doesn’t matter since its recording HD at the same time onboard and the live feed streaming through the balun I would mostly use for nav anyway. You cannot record HD (onboard) and view HD at the same time (with previous models). Don’t know with Hero2 since ...

Re: Camera Recomendations

This one is great. It is slightly above your budget though with 150$.

Works with balun and 100m of twisted pair. Image is awesome.

Re: Disconnect for Tether at ROV?

I have been trying to get my hands on Subconn wet-mate connectors for six months now without success. Would love to know if there is a “small quantity” distributer out there. I went with a Bulgin for Ethernet: http://www.bulgin.co.uk/Products/Buccaneer/Buccaneer_Ethernet.html They seem to work, but ...

Re: Drawing too many amps

Agree with Unorthodox, sounds like you over-propped. Go down to 50-70mm with a gearbox like: http://www.hobby-lobby.com/drives.htm?pSearchQueryId=2030785 It does look like a short though, a 10 wire should be able to handle 40A continuously, I think, and you melted several. Even with your motor stall...
