Re: MakiBox 3D printer...
My bed is aluminium, why is glass thought of as a lot better? I know some folk put glass on top of their aluminium bed. I guess you have to adjust the temperature of the bed to ensure the top of the glass is hot enough....

I got a 3mm thick acrylic dome from these folk in the uk. It looks pretty clear and un-distorting.. Haven't tried a camera through it in water yet though...

Re: New builder New ROV ...Old problems .. :)
That's my latest front end..
As mentioned before my intention is to set the desired heading and depth and let a PId controller on the RPI to try and keep fixed. I'm quiet pleased with the way the numbers scroll, not fantastic for a proper html 5 programmer but for a nooby I'm happy with it..

Re: MakiBox 3D printer...
linear bearings turned up and reduce the stiction of the axis to nothing as in i can't feel any. So the back lash at the moment is pretty good. My PID controller has just turned up so I'll need to make a new head holder thing to incorporate my new bearings and a new industrial grade thermo couple ra...

Re: Bilge pump amps and Arduino motor shields
nice and not that expensive. A fair bit more than windows compatible joysticks though. I'm using something similar to http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wired-USB-Gamepad-Game-Controller-Joystick-Joypad-146cm-for-Windows-PC-Laptops-/251874879687?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3aa4e9a8c7 If only I could g...

Yep setting a heading or setting an end location are different things.. Just because you maintain a certain degrees of heading then you may not end up at the expected destination as the craft may have been crabbed by the current. I am expecting though that the current won't act on the whole craft at...

Re: Bilge pump amps and Arduino motor shields
Good when it works (for a change) :) Nice joysticks in the video .. are they expensive ? Are they usb / windows compatible do you know ? Both axis on the joystick drive the same motor ? or was that just for testing the set up ? I found I needed to put a dead band in the middle of the joystick or the...

I'm fortunate in that I have a pool in the garden tis only small and unheated so I'll not be going anywhere near it till summer but I will be chucking the ROV in.
