Re: ROV Without a Name

Thanks

The camera came with a pan and tilt bracket so it was easy to configure at least for the tilt and like you said move the ROV for right to left.

The battery is a gel cell no vents in he battery completely sealed so should be no off gassing.

PPM signal on RC radio

For those that are running a RC radio and using the DSC port to control there ROV, has anybody had it shut down or get glitchy after say 15 minutes or so? I am running a JR radio with a 700 JR Rx and have had it go glitchy or stop completely after 15-25 minutes every time I run it. I first thought I...

Re: best ethernet cable

Steve Take a look at Quabbin P/N 5710 This is what I bought for mine from Certicable on E bay Water proof heavy duty cat 5 with stranded wire and shielding. This is a great flexible wire but heavy.about twice as heavy as regular cheap cat 5. If you think it is something you might want to look at I c...

Re: watertight cat5 cable?

I found and tried a good cable with stranded wire, shield and water proof, It weights twice as much as regular cheap cat 5, I laced it in with 2 pieces of 3/8 poly rope and it still sinks, with the 2 tests I have run with my ROV a sinking Tether is a pain. I will be replacing it with a cheap lighter...

Re: ROV Without a Name

The test plug has a band of rubber that pushes against the inside wall of the pipe, the Plug is wider on the out side so it can no way be pushed into the pipe. If pressure is pushing in on the sides of the pipe it only forces it into the Band of rubber even more think of it like a rubber O ring but ...

Re: ROV Without a Name

Looks good :) So how well is that screw gasket seal thing working and to about what depth have you gotten it. Been thinking about using a standard cleanout myself but the point about it being a pain to work with opening/closing etc does raise some concerns about ease of access. Thanks I haven't tes...

Re: ROV Without a Name

I didn't mean to make you think I was insulting your design, it looks and works much better than mine (which right now is a pile of plastic parts, two circuit boards, a camera and a bunch of grand ideas still in my head). Not at all I have had to many projects in the past that were picture perfect ...

Re: ROV Without a Name

As mentioned above I am using 4" test plug to seal off the back and gain access to the electronics. I was originally going to use the standard screw in plug but it needs messy sealer on it and you have to wrench on it to get it tight enough for a good seal, this is s much easier and faster DSCN...
