Re: 700TVL Camera on Old Laptop Monitor

Thank you! I guess I just managed to get a lot done in the past few days. :) It takes a surprising amount of work to make a video about something, believe it or not! I am going to try and make a wiki page as well to put all the results in one place. Thanks. I always make sure to have everything docu...

Re: draw, thrust, and components

Hi, njs552 here, and I thought I should move my results into this thread so they are all in the same place. Great idea! 750kv Thruster 1.12lbs of Thrust @ 8A

Hi, Here is a video of a recent thruster force test I did my custom ROV thruster. dHiHUd7iTZE Here is an assembly/design explanation video of my thruster as well: hSLH7MzWLSA This thruster is made from a 750Kv brushless RC motor, a 43mm boat propeller, and a 5mm drive dog. See the video link above f...

Re: Custom ROV Circuit Board - Arduino Based

@jwad7215: I do not have any more boards, but I am going to be sending another PCB order because several people have asked me after I ran out of boards. If you are interested please PM me and I will let you know when the next order is available. @roberto83: I use the HobbyKing 30A ESC's. I am using ...

Re: Custom ROV Circuit Board - Arduino Based

Hi, I just wanted to clarify some things about my board. -The boards do not directly control the motors. It is still necesary to have a ESC either brushless or brushed to control the motor, or a relay to control lights, etc. -This board is a hub for the entire ROV, and it is designed so that everyth...

Re: 750kv Brushless Thruster Design Explanation / Assembly

Thanks! I am by no means saying that the collet type prop adapters do not work well, but I feel that they are less secure than ones that are bolted to the outrunner. The collet style obviously works great because most R/C motors are made for them, but for undewater use where there is a lot of drag a...

750kv Brushless Thruster Design Explanation / Assembly

Hi, Below is a video I shot a few days ago about how my thrusters are put together. When I was planning my ROV and looking for thruster designs, there were many conflicting opinions on prop size, type, kv rating, etc. I wanted to show what has worked for me, and maybe this will help some ROV builder...

Re: Surface or Onboard Battery

I selected the 2200mAh 3S mostly because my ESC's can only take 2 to 3S. They need at least 7v to operate. Everything else on my ROV is either at 12v, 5v, or 21v. I need at least 9v for everything to work properly. The last consideration was because of price vs capacity. So I can charge the pack whi...

Re: Surface or Onboard Battery

Hi, I have been mostly focused on surface power, but I am interested in onboard LiPo power because they are small and can sustain high current draw, and the tether would not be as heavy. I have used surface power before at 48v, but I know having 12AWG wires in the tether will not be easy for maneuve...
