Re: bilge vs brushless
I Just spotted the other part of your question, transmitter receiver. We'll the advantage of going for Ethernet compatible fiber and hubs is you can us any network capable device as TX/ RX. I'm using a raspberry pi on the ROV end and a float with a WiFi hub in (£5 worth) at the other end. I will co...

Re: BlackBox ROV
Very cool design! Thanks for posting this. I have a couple of questions (sorry, didn't read the attached pdf). 1. How well did the acrylic seal? Any leaks? Any issues with pressure? 2. What grade did your team get? :) Watertight seals We glued (epoxied) most of the structure for secure sealing. We ...

Re: bilge vs brushless
How much would it cost for fiber + transmitter + receiver?perfo wrote:I'm using a very flexible fiber optic at the moment with on board power ... hmmm I should say (for correctness) I plan to use fiber optic. I've got the fiber and it is pretty flexible and light weight compared to cat 5 or other tether..

BlackBox ROV
Hi there, I am Thein Lin Aung from Myanmar. I am now a final year student at Myanmar Maritime University attending Naval Architecture. I and my friends made an ROV named BlackBox 7 months ago for the first-time competition in the university. The project is initiated with the invitation of Dr. Thu Ha...

Re: bilge vs brushless
I like the ideas...thanks... Good to know the smaller (cheaper) motors do a fine job. 1m/s (2.3 Mph ish ?) is plenty enough for me..in fact its a bit scary fast for my plans.. I'm not sure I could be trusted with something that is verging on torpedo speeds :) Haha that's why we don't drive it at fu...

Re: bilge vs brushless
Thanks for the post. They are slightly smaller motors and ESC than I've ordered so what size is your ROV and do you think these are big enough? Have you got two for forward reverse ? at 7 GBP per motor replacing them every few years isn't a major downer. Where as the bilge pumps do need a bit of fi...

Re: Arduino at high pressure
Why do you need pressure compensated housing? To compensate for external water pressure? A normal rigid housing would work if the ROV does not go too deep.
