Re: PCP Air rifle connectors

I use 6mm push fit pneumatic connectors for my thruster wiring where it penetrates the hull. one end has a 1/4" taper thread that screws into my hull, the other accepts 6mm pneumatic polyurethane hose. just push the hose in and it locks, you can get locking clips for extra security or use a dro...

Re: My "MINIRAY" Rov.

Not done much to the ROV lately but did add outrigger blocks to the thrusters to give it better manouverability. And added a non return valve to my pneumatics to keep compensator pressure in the hull when I vent the gripper pressure to open it. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51008625191_1de8dde...

Re: U-DRONE Amethyst AUV Platform

Good stuff Marco. I'll be watching your progress. I'd suggest some sort of simple sonar, maybe parking sensor based, to stop the AUV hitting the seabed. Not a problem with ROV's as you can react to what you see on the camera but with Autonomous vehicles you can's so it's good to automate it. And tak...

Re: UUV

A word to the wise Ian. ;)
counter rotating props will stop the body spinning in the opposite direction to the prop.
used in all AUV's I've come accross at work.
tricky to implement in a diy build but you may find you need them. :)

Re: U-DRONE Amethyst AUV Platform

Hi Marco.
It's great to see someone making their own AUV, I'm an AUV engineer by trade and you don't see many DIY ones around so good on you.
I'd be interested to know how deep you intend to go and what sensors you will have on it?
good luck.
Bob.

Re: Hello from Yorkshire

Hi from the Isle of Skye and welcome aboard Mark. I have a few Yorkshire connections and once spent a week with Perry Slingsby in Kirkbymoorside learning how to overhaul their manipulator arms. that was good fun. I've also spent a bit of time around the Hudds/Hafilax area but have never dropped my r...

Re: Red camera filter.

good idea Fryslan. I didn't want to carry a white card, had thought about dropping a weight on a rope overboard with a white card on it but that seemed like a lot of hassle. The only thing I can always see is the tips of my gripper jaws, I can paint them white no problem. seems obvious now yo...

Re: comenzando desde cero (Starting from scratch)

Good luck with it AP1. my hat was very tasty. It's good to take a step back and walk away for a while then come back with fresh eyes and ideas. you will get it working I'm sure. just concentrate on one section at a time. get the ps2 controller working, then get it to control the ROV, then get ...

Re: My "MINIRAY" Rov.

Now THAT'S a ROV boat. :D :D :D love it!!! I like the moon pool idea, last time I played with a moonpool we had a 6ft surge in it in bad weather, I got wet. on a different topic I got talking to a guy on e-bay selling fibre optic analog video transmitters off cheap as project boxes, turned out...
