Re: vintage style manipulator

I found this online and I think I may give it a try. Whether I use it, or not, will depend on how well it works. I don't see why it wouldn't operate as it's suppose to.

Re: vintage style manipulator

I always wondered what those looked like on the inside. So yours will be a 3 DOF grabber when you're done with it then? Ideally that is what mine would end up being as well but I'm just not that mechanically talented lol... I'm starting my ROV next weekend so I will see if I even still have room for...

Re: I'm jumping in!

How long do you leave them in the acetone? I imagine not too long.

Re: Electrona 1

WOW!!! That's one of the best builds I think I have seen. Have you gotten it any deeper since your last update?

Pipe Pressure Ratings...

I was curious about what all the various PVC pipes are rated to. After a small amount of searching, I came across this. Should be of some help, especially to all us noobs who are just getting into the hobby. Hope it helps.

Re: Esc,motor and prop combo

Outrunners can be harder to mount in some cases. Think of a typical hobby motor. Inrunners. It has a round cowling, sometimes with two flat sides. And a spinning shaft that come out of the center. Mount this cowling to something: ziptie, JB, or place inside a pipe of some sort...and a prop on the s...

Re: I'm jumping in!

Yes ideally you'd make a flooded frame. I didn't think about that lol.

Re: I'm jumping in!

Yes you should be fine with that. I've been reading about guys going down 100+ feet with frames made from 1" tubing. I just finished cutting 60+ feet of 1/2", 3/4" and 1" pipe with a steak knife (broke my saw and never replaced it) so my plan better work lol

Re: I'm jumping in!

What diameter of pipe did you use for your hull? I'm gonna build using 1" sched 40 pvc. Got it for free so I can't complain.

Re: vintage style manipulator

That setup should work perfectly fine then as I'm not planning to do any major lifting. My rov will mainly be for a local environmental study on the pollution in local waters. The most I'll be lifting is maybe a pop can that someone threw in the lake. My biggest focus is going to be on video evidence.
