Re: TigerShark ROV for exploring Puget Sound

Big Update! I have the control system working finally and did a tank test. Details are on our local electronics group webpage: http://kitsapcreate.org/wp/?page_id=313 I have some adjustments to make to the control system so it matches the scheme I want. Re: Any LED Guru's Out there? Camera Lighting Questions.

There are a few places to buy inexpensive high power LED's one being DX.com. I have a pair of 5W Cree LEDs on my ROV with diffusor lenses that give a very nice spread with almost no shadows or artifacts. They are mounted in 1" aluminum tubing and potted with the drivers. The pair draws 1A at 12...

Re: New from Pacific NW, USA.

Welcome! Where are you exactly? I am in Bremerton and have used my ROV in the areas of Illahee Park up to Agate Pass Bridge so far. Once I get my new tether done and the ROV running again I hope to hit the deeper water and do some wreck diving. There are a few of us in Kitsap working on ROVs. I am a...

Re: TigerShark ROV for exploring Puget Sound

Just an update. Turns out I was having multiple issues (comms with PS2 controller, 485s etc.) I had help last weekend and my programmer/ electronics expert friend figured out the issues and we are closer to having it work. Likely we will create another Arduino based board with 485 comms similar in c...

Re: Connect camera to computer monitor?

That last one should work.

I am in Bremerton so not too far away. I am hoping to use my old laptop screen at some point for a built in monitor in my pelican case.

Re: Using a Load Cell as a Depth Sensor

I am using the same sensor with 500PSI rating. I think if it is stainless it should be ok in seawater. I plan to rinse it out after each run.

Re: modular ROV concept

I would recommend not using a gasket, I had major issues with a gasket leaking over using O-rings which are much better at sealing under pressure. You don't want a lot of surface area as it is harder to compress it enough to get a good seal. Take a look at professionally designed housings, they use ...

Re: TigerShark ROV for exploring Puget Sound

I am using the MAX485 modules like this:

I still am working on it but I suspect there might be some differences in the programs. I am hoping to do only one pair on the cat5 for comms.

Re: Water inside connector

Fill the connector with non-conductive grease and that should keep the water out as long as the grease can't move somewhere else.
