I am wondering who sells Robbe boat propellers in the USA? Thanks.

Re: Making Threaded Prop Adapters

I get asked a lot about the prop adapters I use with the threaded Robbe props that I run. The adapters I use are custom machined on a small hobby lathe to the specs shown below. The prop shown in this picture is not the normal Robbe that I run.)[/color] -Steve 8-) Hey sthone, What motor are you sho...

Any ROV companies near Seattle?

Please don't flame me but there doesn't seem too be any slots in the index to cover my question.

Are there any ROV manufacturers or sales outlets near Seattle? I would like to actually touch and see a commercial ROV up close. Thanks.

360 degree Camera Anyone?

Anyone tried using a 360 degree camera on their ROV or even on the bench top? It seems like a useful tool. So far any I have seen are in the $400 range. Something cheap and board mounted might do it as well if available.

Re: Outrunner Underwater??

Yes, I was looking at the Bluewater motors yesterday and that got me thinking about how they might have done that. From what I have found so far brushless motors can run submerged but the bearings succumb to failure from corrosion. And the shaft and armature gets rusty. I was wondering if anyone mod...

Outrunner Underwater??

Can an outrunner type motor be run underwater? Saltwater?? Maybe replace bearings with graphite filled nylon or something and coat components with marine epoxy? Chrome plated shaft? I think this has been done. Bluerobotics does it somehow.

Arduino and Fiber Optic Communication?

Has anyone heard of controlling an Arduino board using fiber optic cable instead of Cat cable? Someone must have done this, right?

Re: ROV-Control V3

Hello Rover 3D. Very nice looking X3 product. I have a few questions for you. Just how "cheap" is the fiber optic cable? I assume it replaces the Cat cable? Is the fiber optic cable feature now part of the X3 control package? I assume a weight bearing cable would still be needed for raisin...

Re: Can a brushless DC motor run on lead acid battery?

Hi Rossrov, I was thinking maybe a glass saturated mat sort of battery as they are smaller and lighter than a wet lead acid battery. They claim to be sealed too so no out gassing during charge or discharge (is this really true?). Capable of very high discharge rates for short intervals. About $125 a...

Can a brushless DC motor run on lead acid battery?

Title pretty much says it. Can a brushless DC motor such as:

be safely run by a 12V lead acid battery, such as an automotive battery?
