Re: Hello from 'sunny' holland

hartelijk welkom. De haven van Rotterdam is er wel 20 meters en daar zou je wel veel spullen gaan finden as bromfietzen en puin... lol. Back to English  My Idea to become a Trainee ROV Pilot/Technician came actually as I was working in Beverwijk and after I did my apprenticeship as an electrici...

Re: Modifying an ultrasonic sensor to work underwater?

Update, the 'sonar' above I wanted to use as well, but some Lads meant, it is a range finder for air which often also is called 'Sonar' but it has nothing to do with it. They will not work under water and if covered the same result comes out. But (lucky I have got these real live ROV experts in my f...

Re: rov transportation

The Best would be to make a aluminium box that has precise measurements = exact fit.. I face an extra problem as my umbilical is a 150m Fiber Optic and doesn't excuse any OOPS while transportation.. B t w that hood is for sure the most futuristic looking video transmission unit I ever have seen... b...

Re: Modifying an ultrasonic sensor to work underwater?

http://www.active-robots.com/sensors/object-detection/ultrasonic I will try one of this company. According to some real live ROV techs it will go through 3-6mm PVC if you take as buffer a thin layer of foam to damp the reflection.. But I haven't got it till now.. The company who provides these senso...

Re: ROV for sale

yeah, definitely a much better offer.. You get a lot more toy for your $$ as that one before.. Never have seen so much ROV getting sold a e-bay.. I stick to my plan and build one from scratch, just to experience the challenges or gather some good videos how the Camera  is drowning or that w...

Re: My "MINIRAY" Rov.

Hi, I want to go deeper and some 'real live' ROV guys told me to go with the light as close to daylight quality as possible, then you might get a better screen pic. The pipe is a great solution with plex.. you can't go wrong as well.. may be wee meet us at 100m (will be my first target without pulli...

Re: ROV for sale

For that money you can build a better one with much more extras even capable to dive 1000'. I just ordered all parts for mine, 2500£ roughly, with closed motor housings in 1/2" PVCu all housings, magnetic couplings for 8 Motors (2 for the Manipulator) 6x 12V battery Fiber Optic Tether...and 1st...

Re: Tether Housings

I was thinking the same way but it was out of question as I decided to use a fiber optic tether. I made before some experiments how to get the wire through the hose and final solution was to use a ball (pearl in my case) that fits just into the hose. I took my fishing rod and attached the braided li...

Re: Rotary Magentic Motor

Is a bit of work coming up to you. I tried it as well but gave up before these motors were swallowing my budget. Beside that I have not the facilities to do it. My dad is working offshore and at present I am raping his office to do him proud  and expect him not coming by surprise home... I ...
