Re: Camera advice gopro for rov

Look into SJCAM. They make good Go Pro like cameras which are much cheaper and have live feed over cable. I have an SJ4000. Make sure you get a real SJCAM since there are many knockoffs some of which cannot live feed.

Nice looking design! I think you will want your thrusters pointed inward at the front and aft for proper control.

Re: GoPro: Waterproofing Solution

Are you looking to go deeper than the included case the camera comes with or feed live video from the camera and need a way to seal the cable?

Re: TigerShark ROV for exploring Puget Sound

Did you program the ESCs with a programming card or manually? That could be an issue. Also you might test it with a servo instead to make sure it is working up to that point. Here is my bottomside code: //Bottomside ROV Software //Created 06/30/13 by Nick S. //Last Modified 11/30/13 1503hrs //Releas...

Re: ROV for college project

Nice looking project! We don't have PVC like that in the US in that size! I am struggling with Arduino and don't know Pi at all, sorry. You could use a sensor for oil/ water pressure. They come in many types and are analog so easy to integrate.

I am adding a solid state relay to turn the batteries on and off. When the tether is shut down the relay is off.

This works for me, I have never had an issue with this design.

I think your rods would be fine but I would use SS or Brass. You could thread just the ends of solid rod.

Re: Acrylic/aluminum hull problems

You also shouldn't need to get it that tight. You definitely need to use some grease. I use vasoline. Just a little to moisten the o-ring. You have to keep the area very clean also. I think if you had a part of the end cap that extended into the tube that would work better. I have double O-rings on ...

Re: Acrylic/aluminum hull problems

Clean those ends up and that might work. You could swirl it on fine sandpaper over a very flat surface. Also you might need more compression.
