It's all down to time, cost, and your personal skill level or access to skills.

Personally if I can make almost everything myself, I will, unless it's cheaper to buy units, for example, electronics are cheap to build, but you need to buy the components in bulk, therefore it is cheaper to buy

Murky water reflects whatever you shine at it. However if you use an ir camera and an incandescent light, it's a good combo

An ir camera would probably be best, however if you can, a colour and IR camera with on board switcher would be much much better

I would, as long as you have about 10-15% compression, and your cap fits inside the cylinder with as little gap as possible, it should be fine

micro/macrobaloons work just fine Steve. I've got a chunk of 4000m rated buoyancy, which i was gifted for my Mk2 ROV, it's very heavy due to being 4000m rated but it's basically just microbaloons and epoxy. just make sure you don't pour too much in one go or the epoxy could suffer cracking, though w...

actually the chamfer on the oring grooves is on the wrong side!!

those orings may extrude through the gap
