Re: Aluminum Hull with Dome
I am not 100% sure that it is nessisary, I will have 4 vex victor 888 motor controllers and each will have about 15 amps running through it . It may not need it but with the controllers having fans on them I assume they create a fairly large about of heat . In addition to voltage regulators for micr...

Re: cable sizing, common earth
I am not an expert. But from my experience if you are having voltage drop problems with your positive+ , The ground will cause the same problem. Have you thought about running a 12 gauge power and ground? What is your total amp draw?

Re: Aluminum Hull with Dome
SO.. I found out it would cost about $900 from the machine shop. Not in my budget. SO I am thinking 6'' pvc with a threaded enc cap on one end and a solid one on the other. with a small water pump feeding cool water from out side to a power steering cooler that is mounted in the top of pvc. the moto...

Aluminum Hull with Dome
I needed a way to seal all my electronics and provide a viewing area for a pan tilt camera. I have not built it yet, But I should be starting in in the next few weeks.

Brushless motors oil filled
So i have been reading around, For my newest project I need to be able to dive 150 ft in sea water. I want to use brushless because of higher power and motor controllers are cheep compared to brushed. The problems is I dont have a lathe so building a housing is going to be a real challenge, Optimall...

Re: VEX problems
So the problem with the cortex on the rov is no wireless signal will go 150 feet underwater and I don't think I can extend a USB that far. Plus USB gets rid of my wireless functionality. I'm guessing my ideal way would be to interface the vex with 2 arduinos . More than I really wanted to wire up. A...

Re: VEX problems
Vex mostly uses 3 wire ( red+ black - white PWM) and yes im using a 888 motor controller, but it is all the same for servos or the 330 series motors. My goal is to have the wirless joystic controller and cortex above water and signal ran down to the motor controllers and servos, So for the cable I a...

VEX problems
So. i am using a VEX cortex micro controller ( a teacher donated a bunch of vex for me to use) this is nice because I can easily program the controls to do just about anything I want. The problem arises when I try to send the pwm signal over 150 ft of tether. All my servos start to spaz out due to i...
