Re: project enclosures?

Loctite 1151984 .85 oz Plastix epoxy works great. It has some chemical in it that melt/bonds to the plastic. Have you thought of drilling small holes and potting in female bullet connectors (used to connect ESC to a brusless motor) through your pressure bulkhead? That way you don't have a wire going...

Re: TETHER?

On the ROV-Asia web site, under the FAQ's, Duncan mentions they use the control board on an ROV rated to 500 meters. So 100 meters isn't even close to the max communication distance. Have you tested the ROV-Asia control with your 100m cable? Post your results when your done testing. I have tested it...

Re: LED's

We bought 1 and 3 watt flashlights from the home discount store at a great price, and only used the LED assembly. They are a focused beam, so we may need to frost the lens to spread the beam out.

Re: What size cable to use for tether?

One last thought.... Keep in mind the larger the power wire, they heavier the tether will be. You dont want the tether to be a boat anchor, or have to add a ton of floats that will add drag. I was shocked how heavy just the pvc insulation on the wire is. I went with teflon insulation, because it is ...

Re: Urgent electrical advice needed – Rov Asia

I have the ROC-Asia control board and really like it. A couple things you can do. 1) You can use a switching power supply on the top side running off of a invertor connected to a 12 trolling motor battery, adjusted to maintain 16 volts DC. This was a suggested solution by ROV-Asia. 2) I have tested ...

Re: Help with choosing a control system for my ROV

Look at the VEX Robotics Transmitter and Receiver. It has a jack on the back that allows you to communicate with the receiver via 2 wires. You could use a single twisted pair of wires to control motors.

Re: Brushless Motors

Yes, you can run them in fresh water. The bearings may eventially fail due to rust, but if you can get a season or two out of them thats great. (we haven't had one fail yet) I use out runners, as they come in lower KV (thousands of RPM per volt). We use 750KV and 900KV turning 50mm props. We buy all...

Re: thoughts on rov-asia?

Hi Guys. I also purchased the ROV-Asia controller and really like it. It's compact and nicely laid out. The FWD/AFT and LEFT/RIGHT thruster algrorithim works nicely. I un-stacked the light controller board, so it will fit in a 3" tube. I like the varible speed control you have with the system, ...
