Re: MarkII
biglakeexile, Thanks for the updates. Safe to say, you are boldly going where most of us haven't been! My question about the tether, I was hoping you'd say how many wires of what size you are running, and especially how you are providing the buoyancy for it. From the pic it appears it's not all the ...

Re: Purdue 2011 ROV Hybris
Clayton,
Thank you for the clear answers.
My next questions are: 1) What was the size and material of the air lines in the tether? and, 2) How much did these air lines contribute to the buoyancy of the tether?

Re: Purdue 2011 ROV Hybris
ckleppin, That's a very impressive piece of work. There are a couple things I'm curious about: 1. What is the function of the "oil cap" shown on your site and discussed above? 2. The tether description mentions two "air hoses" included in the tether, one for supply and one for ex...

Re: No Name ROV
thegadgetguy, Well, ummm, I would have to say, "yes and no." If you attach a thruster to an object, it will propel that object in a straight line in the opposite direction, even if it is located off-center on the object. Fair to say that's a weakness of the program. But if you make two con...

Re: No Name ROV
SoakedinVancouver, yea, yea, yea, I'm about to pull the trigger (I think). But modeling the turtle swimming and the boat rolling enough to slosh the coffee out of the mug are good ideas too. :D What I'm really trying to do is learn this FREE software, called SketchyPhysics, a plug-in that works with...

Re: MarkII
biglakeexile, if I may add to the deluge, could you show or tell details of your "325ft neutrally buoyant tether with reel"? Thanks

Re: No Name ROV
I've been working on a design for a little ~ 8" cube wooden box that opens up to be the control console for the ROV. The monitor is a 7" screen intended for video and rear-view display in vehicles. There's an 8-pole joystick for controlling the ROVs propulsion motors; and two 3-position to...
