Re: USB doesnt work over 50'. any ideas?
So you are planning to have the arduino control the thruster's using motor controllers, as opposed to relays, if I am looking at this correctly. Do you have to worry about loss of signal with the arduino over longer distances, or is this not an issue? What camera will you be using? Looks very nice o...

They're usually called USB extenders or USB over CAT5. It sends the USB signal over ethernet wire.

Re: Bilge pumps - do GPH matter for ROV building?
We have both the 500gph and 1000gph Johnson pumps on our project, and just by testing them you can tell that the 1000gph pump spins way faster than the 500gph pump, and it also seems to have more torque.

Re: hobby ROV from Belgium
Wow, very impressive. May I ask what type of data connection you are using between the ROV and topside? Is everything controled by one set of wires or do you have different wires for cameras and control?
Again, very cool.
Again, very cool.

Re: Board Cameras
Okay, thanks. I think we'll go this route for our first camera, and if it doesn't work out I guess we can always turn it into a secondary camera

Re: Manipulator arm general
Yes, I have wondered a lot about this subject. Is there anyone out there who has built an arm with a lot of joints, so that the ROV can settle down and then pick up the object, versus trying to grab the object with the manipulator by manuvering the ROV? Thanks a lot for all you guys' help and suppor...

Board Cameras
Hello, I just joined a few days ago and I was wondering if anyone here has any experience using board cameras under water. I think that is probably the way to go for our project, but I am slightly concerned that you have to manually focus them. Will only part of the picture be in focus? If anyone kn...
