Re: My ROV
Hi Rovdude, I'm not really sure on the maths side it to be honest, I haven't even given it any thought yet. What I can say is look at some of the rc helicopter and airplane flight controllers, things like multiwii and the Ardupilot use both the gyro and accel to hold the position and attitude of the...

Re: ESC question
This is the one I use 30amp ESC but it is out of stock at the international and Australian warehouses. Being a 30amp esc you could be pushing it's limits with your motor, there is a similar one 45amp ESC that for a few bucks more would be a safer option. I have added cooling fans to my vertical thru...

Re: ESC question
That motor looks fine to me, you need an ESC for the motor to turn at all, it being a brushless motor. I don't know why but that is the way it is.. Buy a car ESC as they have reverse something you will undoubtedly want, I like the hobbyking ones as IO find the turnigy ones hard to program, you will ...

Re: Fibre optic tether
Just to throw another Arduino into the mix, I think my next bottom side board will be a Multiwii pro board. It has all the sensors on board and no end of inputs and outputs all for $40 or less.
Of course you would add your own sketch to it.

Re: Fibre optic tether
Hi Rovdude , I went through much of the process you are now, but never really finished by getting the desired hardware. At some stage I will return to that path though I think. I seem to remember that I only needed 1 strand of fiber as communication can flow in both directions, also there are much b...

Re: My ROV
Hi rovdude, two of the O rings fit between the outer hull and the back door, the third gets clamped between the door and the rear flange, much the same as a gasket would. In the picture the third O ring should have been a bit larger than it was so it's not obvious where it fits. I have since hollowe...

Hey Ross, great to see you making progress again, do you plan to overlay range rings on your GUI?

Re: Floats for tethers?
I've threaded my cat 5 tether down the middle of a floating ski rope, it also needed some extra fishing net floats to get it to float, trouble is that if diving deep there are too many floats under water and it starts to lift the ROV.

Re: Video interferance
Hi Ross, Waiting a parts, as usual. I'm using MAX488 chips for my data and no I don't have a ground wire connecting them. My currently plan is to simply use a wireless av link to the sounder, as it's only the physical link that creates a problem. I'm sure there is an underlying cause as I had the tw...
