Re: Arduino: RS485 full-duplex using MAX488
Thanks, that was really helpful. In terms of the MAX488 IC itself, can I put that on a breadboard/prototyping PCB with the aforementioned 120 ohm resistors, or would I have to do something else with it? Thanks again! you can get the MAX488 in a DIP8 package that fit nicely on a breadboard. http://w...

Re: Arduino: RS485 full-duplex using MAX488
First regarding the max488 setup: 1. there should be a 120ohm resistor between Pin 7 & 8 on both chips to make sure the communication is stable over great lengths. 2. you do not need the ground wire, its nice to have it, but you frankly dont need it. The thing is each pair of wires has a negativ...

Re: Video&power into single ethernet cable with baluns.
Ground Loop. Yes, thank you. I have experienced ground loops in audio setups before with uncommon grounds. And correct, in our setup so far, the 12V topside battery is the only ground. It is connected to the power side of the camera AND the ground side of the balun for the video signal. When using ...

Re: ROV project, yet to be named
So if talking between two arduinos with each having the Futurlec RS422 board betweeen them, there is no need for the additional RS232/TTL converter, correct? That is only for say a PC serial port connection, correct? just connect pin 0 and 1 on a Arduino straight to the rs422 board. these are 5v tt...

Re: Video&power into single ethernet cable with baluns.
I am coaching a kid team building their first ROV...for this first version we are running power/video in a single CAT5 using passive Baluns at each end. In fact we also power a LED light array on one of the last twisted pairs. When using a wall wart (AC power supply for 12V DC), the video is fine. ...

Re: My Meager Machine
max485 converts ttl to 2-wire(half duplex) RS485 signals. this need a extra signal/function to flip the communication each way. (RTS / TX enable) Max488 converts ttl to 4-wire(full duplex) RS485/RS422 signals. no extra need for special code or anything. can be used for extending almost any ttl signa...

Re: Turnigy9x 9ch controller through a cat6 cable.
Between the controller and the TX module a signal called PPM is transmitted. this is a signal that consist of all the 9 channels with each of their set point. you can skip both the TX and RX module, and replace them with either this board in the rov: http://www.foxtechfpv.com/rmilec-ppmpwm-signal-d...
