Re: 700TVL Camera on Old Laptop Monitor

Great video - very informative. Nice find on the camera as well. I have a backup camera that's about half the price, but it's not suitable as the image is reversed and there are parking lines that are overlaid on the video. Yours has the ability to turn mirroring on/off, as well as the parking lines...

Re: looking for some advice

I'm interested in your regulator as well as well as I'll run into the same problems. Do the problems continue once the motors are running? If not, then it's definitely a startup issue. Also, are you sure it's a voltage issue rather than a current draw issue? The voltage may be ok but the motors are ...

Re: DigitROV, basic design

Two more thoughts: Any dimensions or tube thickness? My frame is looking at about a foot cube of 1/2" PVC, with 3" tube for the main enclosure. Not sure what size I need for the camera enclosure yet. You should also add cross bars across the front and back at the bottom to hold the skids t...

Re: DigitROV, basic design

I'll echo the thoughts on being modular. Big thumbs up there! I'd suggest you extend the PVC frame to surround the floatation. I'm not sure how you intend to secure the legs to the floatation, but having the frame as a standalone support might be stronger and allow you to adjust how much floatation ...

Re: Anyone tried a car backup camera

Well, I got back to camera tests and found that the camera does in fact reverse the image. This makes the camera a no-go for me - need to start looking for another solution. Only way to make it work would be to feed it into a laptop and reversing the image through software, but I think that's only p...

Re: Cad programs?

I'm still trying to work with Sketchup, but I find if I don't use it for a while (even only 2weeks) then I forget half the commands. It's a bit of a learning curve but it does have a lot of features. If you go this route, I highly recommend following the on-line tutorials and looking for their free ...

Re: looking for some advice

My suggestion would be to add a separate on-board battery for any electronics and have the motors run off the surface battery. The drain caused by electronics should be much less so you don't need the same level of amperage as required to run the motors. As your motor power gets used, the motors may...

Re: New Section - The Code Room - Programing.

Thought I was going crazy when I couldn't find the thread I was following, then found it moved! Good stuff! I'll check in here whenever I'm on. I have a software background (VB and C++ mostly) and working with the Arduino platform a lot. I think sections for C/C++ and Visual Basic would be useful as...

Re: Basic Outline, Arduino tcp/ip & cat5

Hi Duncan, Your setup sounds a lot like the one I am planning - Arduino on-board hooked to a laptop using UDP. UDP should be fine and is certainly easier. The amount of data is likely to be small and even sending every 0.1 seconds should not have an impact (unless you are using an IP camera; I'm loo...
