Re: Can't find Propellors
Thanks, I went with Harbor Models for the props and Tower Hobbies for the mounting coupler. Used a cut, 4mm screw and seems to work like a charm (i still have to test). I also found a perfect piece of pvc and use a dremmel to carve out grooves for a slide and lock (locking tabs were already present ...

Re: Gearhead camera tilt
I found a gearhead motor that I would like to use and some gears that should work. Do I need to find a motor that is specifically waterproof? I found a great site for electronics. Will this work? http://www.e-clec-tech.com/gehe0814m.html

Gearhead camera tilt
So I've been looking around and I really like the idea of a tilting camera. It will also be essential in tracking spawning lake trout by performing population counts against the backdrop of the surface. Not essential to install the grabbing arm but will eventually add a shocking electrode to estimat...

Re: Mounting Propellers
rabies, I'm in the same boat (haha...no pun intended). I'm trying to avoid epoxy and I've bought a couple adapter pieces but don't have the props yet to try them out. Steve has posed a link to great schematic of his adapter in the "How to" section of his home built rov page. I haven't been...

Re: Can't find Propellors
Steve, Thanks a ton! I just placed an order. :D I also got one shaft/stuff box and a set of wheel collars to play with. I will probably use a prop adapter similar to yours for the other three motors. What do you call the base piece with the tapping hole? I'm a bit leery of relying on epoxy clay to h...

Can't find Propellors
I've been searching for a couple days now, mostly though on-line hobby shops and no one has them in stock! There appears to be no US manufacturer and orders are only filled roughly once a year by most places. I need three 50mm counter-clockwise and one clockwise rotating prop. Please help!

Re: Sea Fox for research
Thanks for the input! It now appears that our budget will not allow us to use a computer interface so that solves the first issue. I will most likely use a 12Vdc battery kept on the boat. I'm intrigued by the PWM control. Does this also allow for reverse? I was thinking I would use the Johnson 750gp...

Sea Fox for research
Hey all, My name is Bret and I work as a research assistant for the University of Vermont. Our department has been approved to build a SeaFox for use in studying and analyzing lake trout spawning habitat. Having very little experience building an ROV for use other than in a pool, I'm very thankful f...
