Re: Arduino boards.
I have great respect for the Autodesk Maya software. If I understand correctly, you are referring to the fact that the animation movements are scripted with Python? Otherwise, you should be able to easily create your interface with Maya. However, I do not really know much of anything about either Py...

Re: Need ROV Building Advice
If you could give me some tips for the VB, I would really appreciate it. As for AutoCAD, it is Computer Aided Design software, which means you can completely build your ROV on your computer first, then take the design and build it in real life. AutoCAD is used by inventors and architects for hundred...

Re: Box for control systems
Go to either Radio Shack or your local electronics store, or if you don't have one check the Internet, for relay/power supply heat sinks. These may very well be heavy, but if you are concerned about the heat problem, this might be the way to go. As for waterproofing, your idea sounds good. If you ar...

Re: Need ROV Building Advice
Well, as I keep looking at all of the info I have been collecting, I am glad that I am not the "Engineer", and just the Resources Manager! Whenever I think about the programming my teeth start chattering  . My brother (also on team) thinks that he could do the programming OK, because ...

Re: Need ROV Building Advice
I forgot to mention that we'll probably (hopefully) not be using the Johnson Mayfair replacement cartridges. One of our team's member's dad used to work at West Marine, and he is going to try to get us 4 bilge pumps from them.
Just an update. Josh

Re: Need ROV Building Advice
Well, I am not sure what version of VB your team member is programming with, but if it is Visual Basic 2008 (9.0), you shouldn't have to worry about it. Contrary to popular belief, Visual Basic can handle just about all of the more complex algorithms and processes as C or C++, for example. I won't g...

Re: Tether buoyancy idea.
I am in the process of acquiring AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Autodesk Inventor, through Autodesk's student software program. As soon as I get the software, I will make a quick drawing and post it in the MATE forum.

Re: Mounting Propellers
That looks like it might work. The only thing insecure I can see about it is that other than epoxy, there isn't anything holding the shaft and the prop together. However, I suppose that side screws and other things would off set the balance quite a bit! I am going to look into this. It might work re...

Re: Suggestions Welcome Here....
I must say that I agree. Many forums end up with threads and topics entirely away from the point of the forum. I have thought about this, and from a web designers point of view, the only reason you would want that to happen would be if you wanted better page rank, or more hits from Google searches. ...
