Re: Mini 3VDC Electric Motor

No problem with the info, and actually when my wife and I were up in Chicago we stopped at a Radio Shack there, and I saw those same motors. Thought for a moment about picking up a bunch.

Re: Crazy idea.

Besides who would of thought of doing 3d on an ROV. The question now is color, or black and white (low light.) I am a 3d animator, and I can think of about 3 million reasons to just jump into this. The current specs of my ROV now will be two cameras + plus the equivalent to 100 watts of light output...

Re: Crazy idea.

I know that it is a crazy idea, but just think that if you couple it with those i-glass specs, and had the right distance (say 5" apart) navigation would be superb, and if you had HD that would just be gravy. Then on top of all that put a video overlay. Holy cow. Five inches is almost the max d...

Re: What if?

Yes it is more economic to use wires, but the point of this is is to try to reduce the number of openings in the front hull housing so that there is a reduced risk of leaking. If I can like I said just take the signal from the front hull to the back hull (wireless) that would reduce the number of op...

Re: What if?

Both housings are made of polycarbonate, and like I said the only distance that I am trying to travel with the camera signal initially is 7 inches. Once I get that signal from the front housing to the back housing to the control board it will then be send to the surface by either coax or by bnc and ...

Re: Housing doors

My apologies for my post I was sleep deprived at the time, and didn't really know what I was actually writing. :D.
As far as housing doors try maybe o-rings and a cap of sorts.

Re: counter rotating necessary?

Let's ask a couple of questions here first. One, how big is the ROV? Two, how much torque is the motor actually putting out? Three, is it really necessary to have counter rotating props? With those questions in mind now then in my opinion since this a "hobby" and in my experience in the th...

Re: Mini 3VDC Electric Motor

The ROV that I am working on isn't that much bigger 13.5"L x 14.5" W x 7" D, and I am using 900 gph bilge motors (modified) on mine. I am building mine to go to a depth of about 200 feet. I think for an ROV of that size you might find that having a bigger motor is actually better, but...

What if?

What if a guy (Me), only needed to transmit a bluetooth signal, or RF signal (underwater) between two housing that are seven inches or less apart. This would be communication between my camera and the control board. Question is would it work? I know it is a crazy idea, and I know that typically wire...

Re: Camera questions?

oops did I say that my thruster could handle 1000 feet... oops didn't mean that they are only bilge pump motors,.. but would like them to be able to handle that at that size.
