Re: Hello from Australia

Parts arriving and I've sent a drawing to a machinist who is going to make up some prop adapters. I've also designed a buoyancy calculator in Excel to calculate the size of the buoyancy tubes on top of the ROV. Hi I would absolutely love to see that buoyancy calculator of yours! seems like it would...

Re: Laptop -> usb -> Cat6 -> usb -> actioncam // possible?

Yeah Steel, USB is usually only good for around 16 feet, after that you get signal degradation and you'll be lucky to have it work at usb 1.0 speeds. You could plug an IP (internet protocol) camera into some Cat5, ethernet cable is good for 325 feet before you begin to have signal strength problems...

Tether waterproofing/depth/length constraints

Hi all, it seems like the accepted tether method is Cat5e, what are the general max length/depth restrictions for ethernet tethered ROV operation? I'd also love to see how y'all implemented tethers on your project, as well as the specific cables you used. I'm attempting a relatively deep-diving ROV ...

looking for advice on attempting a 1000ft capable ROV

Hi all, I'm looking to build a 1000ft capable ROV to help assist a full scale homebuilt submarine in tests later this year. My initial thought is to use a 150 Cu ft welding tank as a pressure vessel, with an acrylic windows and brushless FPV motors for propulsion. Any and all suggestions are appreci...
