Re: Tether waterproofing/depth/length constraints

You can go 4000 ft. over RG59 coax if you use two ethernet-over-coax adapters, one in the ROV, one topside. I used a security-system DVR inside my ROV plugged into a wired router, so I could also have 8 camera feeds.

Re: Hull resources?

Late reply, solly. My storage unit in Arkansas got burgled, everything gone, but I HAD... A 7" aluminum pipe from onlinemetals.com as my main electronics enclosure. Actually 7-3/4" OD. 4' long. An 8" acrylic hemisphere custom-blown by https://plastic-domes-spheres.com/ to have 1/2&quo...

Re: looking for advice on attempting a 1000ft capable ROV

Remember Mr. Newton. That 150 cu ft tank is really heavy, and will take alot of thrust to get moving, and alot again to stop, turn, etc. I bought 3/8" wall, 8" dia, 4' long aluminum pipe from onlinemetals.com , cut and welded rings on either end. Then i used a dished aluminum end cap for t...

Re: Laptop -> usb -> Cat6 -> usb -> actioncam // possible?

Keaton, I apologize for the slow response...I don't get notifications of people posting, unless i actually visit the forum. Not much more to tell than i explained already. Using eKL ethernet over coax adapters, you can use regular TV coax as your tether, with 100mbps speed at 1000 ft. You need one o...

Re: Laptop -> usb -> Cat6 -> usb -> actioncam // possible?

Yeah Steel, USB is usually only good for around 16 feet, after that you get signal degradation and you'll be lucky to have it work at usb 1.0 speeds. You could plug an IP (internet protocol) camera into some Cat5, ethernet cable is good for 325 feet before you begin to have signal strength problems....

Re: Camera from an old camrecorder

Ok, i'm a little late reading this post, but... "Remember, remember the 5th of November...The gunpowder, treason and plot. I see no reason why gunpowder treason should ever be forgot" LOL Look on eBay, search for Panasonic T55 (or T70, same device) camcorder, used. Look until you find some...

Re: Hello from Australia

Not too many posts on here lately.

Hopefully that means btrue is out diving Lake Coeur d'Alene so we can live vicariously through his videos.

Usually there are several smart fellers on here that will respond to new members.

Re: Hello from Australia

Howdy from the central USA! I tend to build bigger, no matter what i'm constructing...trucks, houses, sculpture, or ROV's. IMHO, the heavier the ROV is, the less currents, tides, and the tether jerk it around. My first one was the size of a large chest freezer. It vanished when my storage unit was b...
