Three Jaw Manipulators
Hey there. Sorry for 2 posts in the same category, but... Has anyone thought of having 3 jaws on there claw/manipulators? That way it could grip tools (handles). Maybe if it was controlled with something that could be spun it could hold a screw driver. Or, remember the MATE competition? it could spi...

Re: rov transportation
Also, if you have the option, get watertight cable connectors. In my opinion, the tether is hardest to store (gets tangled, wrenches around connections, almost broke my control box trying to coil it, etc...), so having a removable tether cuts down on transportation hardship. Just an idea.

Parallel Jaw vs...
Hey. Does anyone have any opinions regarding parallel jaw grippers to non-parallel jaw grippers. Pros and Cons, etc. It seems like if you could get it right, parallel jaw grippers would be advantageous. But they're a little more complex. Especially when you get into 3-pronged grippers :P Thanks for ...

Re: Electrical Safety - Please Help
I'm no expert, but fuses are very important as well. If you're ultra paranoid use more than one, or have a main fuse that cuts power to the system in the event of a short circuit. This will help prevent electrical fires. Good luck,

Re: Hi, Cameron from Pompton Lakes
Well, I think we're going to need some more info... 1. If you want to use Cat5 to send video to the surface, you will need video baluns. Google it. Basically, the video from cameras is transmitted in coaxial cable (usually). Baluns "convert" it to two wires instead. So going to and from yo...

Re: Complete Control Using Arduino
Hi I'm in the process of figuring this all out as well, and thought I'd give some input. :) Here are some ideas Pros: Variable Speed Better Control System (joystick, better tactile response, etc) GUI (if you can/want) Less money spent on big switches (ie, heavy switches) PWM (Can control servos -- I...

Where to buy tether?
My ROV team is looking for a new tether. This is what we had last year and would like to use this year:

But where can this be bought at a length of 7meters? ie, we can't afford 100 feet and don't need it either
