Re: Suki ROV

Hello! After a little break, I'm back! Just to update on how its going! To solve the reversible ESC issue, I ended up buying car ESCs from hobbyking ( https://hobbyking.com/en_us/hobbykingr-tm-brushless-car-esc-45a-w-reverse.html?___store=en_us ). These were just the easiest solution as I couldn't r...

Re: Suki ROV

Thanks asesorplaza1 for the links, although I don't have too much problems with controlling an ESC with arduino, I'm really struggling to get it to be reversible (spin clockwise AND anticlockwise). But the library on github looks like it'll make my code a lot neater! Thanks as well MarcoMota, I thin...

Suki ROV

Hello! I'm back to build my second ROV! (My first is also published on this forum and is called Skagen ROV is anyone is interested :D ) While designing this ROV I was keen to not make the same mistakes as last time, here's a list of some of the things I learnt building my first ROV: 1. DC motors (bi...

Re: Disc Retriever

Wow looks really cool!
I'm just wondering what grabber are you using to collect the discs and how does the communication between the laptop and the RPI work?

Thanks!

Re: Skagen ROV

It's finally gone into the bath (and had a paint job)! Here's a video of it, everything is working well, I need to change some things though, the LED ring at the moment over saturates the webcam's image. I also need to come up with a nice solution to how to secure the float, as the float in the vide...

Re: Skagen ROV

To duct the props properly to maximise thrust you need props designed for ducting, the ones with square tips to the bladtes, but I would guard your props because even seaweed or debris floating in the harbour can foul your props. And if you ever hit a jellyfish.... well you can imagine the mess. ha...

Re: Skagen ROV

Looking good Mantfish. I think you'll be fine with the pipe down to 30m no problem. water pressure is only 43psi at that depth. 3D printing seems like a great way to prototype things, I'm still machining stuff out on the lathe so it takes a bit more work. Are you planning on ducting the props? I'm ...

Re: Skagen ROV

Thanks ArduRov! Yes, I hadn't thought about that but you're probably right, what I think I might do to counteract the outside pressure is 3D print something along the lines of this: insidebit.png It will sit inside the hull and hopefully the 3D printed parts will support the pressure...? It will als...

Skagen ROV

Hi! This is an ROV project I've been working on for a while (in between browsing this forum!) it's main purpose is just to have a look around Skagen harbor in Denmark, so it's only intended to go down to about 5-10M (next versions will hopefully do more). 2.jpg IMG_20170723_193156.jpg IMG_20170723_1...
