3d printable parts to turn a tecnec jackreel 4 into a tether

If anyone is interested, I published the parts for my Tether spool build today. It uses a tecnec Jackreel 4, a slipring, some bluerobotics fathom x tether boards and tether cable, an RCA Balun, and a couple of other bits. Should fit a 50M bluerobotics tether, or longer with smaller diameter cable. h...

Re: Dive flashlight

I made a little bracket for the Ikalite PCA flashlight, which seems to be one of the less expensive dive lights out there available in LED. You can download and print one of the brackets for free from here if you like: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:735867 You can also see a picture of the current...

Re: Affordable Syntactic Foam options or Macroballoon source

I found some macrospheres off ebay when I cast mine, but I haven't seen them since. The ESS SF-22 or SF-25 setups should work. finding them is the tricky part. http://www.esyntactic.com/products-solu ... ler-sf-22/

Re: Can I buy a hull, good for 100m depth ? Where from ?

Crustcrawler.com has one. It's somewhat expensive. But it works well so far.

Edit: also do a search for ikalite video camera housings on ebay and see if you can find any of the leftover larger format video camera housings that are too big for most video cameras these days, but perfect for RoV hull.

Re: First ROV build

Looks nice! For hull penetrations, going out the back plate is probably going to be logistically easier. A curved section of identical material would be slightly stronger, but harder to seal against. You can make your own pass throughs, or buy one of the various waterproof connector sets. I'm using ...

8" tubing ends

Anyone happen to have a good source for any kind of 8 inch tube endcaps that could be fitted by any means to an 8" OD 7.5" id Actylic tube? My aluminum milled endplates have turned into horribly expensive options, so I am trying to find a less expensive option that will work. But no one ma...

Re: Camera housing

From my admittedly limited experiance so far, the first setup will be cheaper and easier to implement. You can make a fairly robust PVC housing with a flange or a threaded seal and flat acrylic plate or a dome cheaper than you can get endcaps for an acrylic tube made. Something along these lines: ht...

Re: ROV-Control V3

Are you planning on adding any additional servo channels to the board in the near future? The cointrol and lighting features look pretty much exactly what I want, but I also have a need to actuate 3-4 robot arm servos, one camera pan servo, and one "drop weights so I can bring things to the sur...

Re: A 3d printable ROV - Also, hello!

Nice looking setup! I'm not planning on using 3d printed parts for the water seals on the tubes, just the frame components. The main pressure hull is going to be an acrylic tube with aluminum endcaps. I've made some progress on mine. The main sideplates are all done. I've redesigned the top plates t...

Re: 10 m USB Extension cable with USB Hub

You are going to need a USB to Cat5 or USB to Fiber adaptor. If you go USB over network cable, make sure you get a USB 2.0 speed unit at least. There are USB 1.0 speed units available that are just flat out not going to work with what you are trying to do.
