Re: The SeaFlea

I tracked my problem down to a short circuit problem with the salt water. The positive and negative were too close at both the tether connection and the plug connection on the back. I have ordered these connectors http://www.ebay.com/itm/181597823448?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&var=480555187995...

Re: Losing electric in saltwater, I think

Thanks for everyone's help. Obviously the cheap connectors are not going to work. But I am not going to pay $100 for waterproof connectors either. And I still want to detach the tether. So I am going to try these http://tinyurl.com/mrajtud and see what happens. This has really been an interesting pr...

Re: Losing electric in saltwater, I think

Yes there is green on the connectors. The yellow circle is the 24v power cables. But if the corrosion is causing the drop in voltage why does the voltage return once it is out of the saltwater? The more important question is how do I prevent whatever the problem is? Would it be enough to space the p...

Losing electric in saltwater, I think

I don't really know what is happening. I run my ROV in saltwater. I have 24v from the surface to a 12v 15a converter onboard, then the relays. I am using Rule 1100gph bilge pumps. I have everything connected via quick disconnect plugs. Details can be seen at http://micomarov.weebly.com/ . Anyway, te...

Re: No thrust. What did I do wrong?

24v is run from topside to a 24v to 12v 15amp converter then to the relays. The converter and relays are onboard. The ROV weights 16#. I don't know what having an isolation problem means. I assume it has something to do with the electricity. All of the motors did not work well when first tried it in...

Re: Pingpong balls for tether buoyancy??

I used 1/4" closed cell foam. With 16 cat5 wires, 16g speaker wires, and a small rope it was slightly buoyant. Someone said they tried it going deep and some of the closed cells collapsed. I don't plan to go deeper than 50' so I think it will be ok for me. I haven't gone that deep yet so I can'...

Re: Picking a camera

This is the camera I used http://www.ebay.com/itm/291107303462?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 . It is kind of expensive and I could not use the LEDs due to the reflection off my dome. But it is 12v and it already has a 20m cable. I ended up cutting the camera off the cable an...

This is what I used http://www.ebay.com/itm/291142150337?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT. It worked well for me. Visit http://micomarov.weebly.com/ for details.

The SeaFlea

This is my first build. All the details are at http://micomarov.weebly.com/ . Everything looks and works well EXCEPT the ROV won't move. I mean it seems like there is no thrust at all. I have asked for help with that in the Thrusters board. I hope someone can help because otherwise it will be a lot ...

No thrust. What did I do wrong?

This is my first build. All the detail is at http://micomarov.weebly.com/ . I used 1100 gph Rule bilge pumps with 50mm props. Out of the water the motors turn fast enough to feel air, like a fan. I put the ROV in the water and there was very little if any thrust. It was so little I thought maybe the...
